Tarim Basin(Taklamakan Desert)
The Tarim Basin is located in northwest China in China's Xinjiang region. The centre of the basin is the Taklamakan Desert. To the north, the Tarim Basin is bordered by the Tien Shan Mountains, by the Pamirs to the west, by the Kunlun Mountains to the south, and by the Altun Mountains and to the east. Also, the salt lake and marshland of Lop Nur lie to the east end of the basin. Due to the fact that the mountains block moist air from the sea, the climate in the Tarim Basin is very dry.
